Prosser Family Line
Currently I have traced my Prosser ancestry back to John Prosser who married Margaret Phillips circa 1875 in Tredegar, Bedwellty Parish, Monmouthshire in Wales. John & Margaret had three sons Thomas Edward (b 10 May 1875), Edgar (b c1879) and John Arthur (b 10 Sep 1885) all born in Tredegar.
About 1886 the family emigrated to Australia and settled near Stawell in Victoria. Thomas and John A. went to the School of Mines in Stawell and about 1900 all three brothers went to the goldfields in Western Australia. Not long after this Edgar disappeared with out trace and family history has it that he was murdered, but his cannot be proved. Thomas and John A. spent many years in the goldfields with Thomas eventually becoming a battery manager.
My ancestor, John Arthur, left the goldfields and eventually took up a group settlement block on Group 31 at Jarnadup (near Manjimup) in the south west of Western Australia about 1925. John Arthur married Stella Cort in 1908 and they had 4 girls and 2 boys. One boy, also John Arthur, died at age 2, the second boy, Edgar Robert disappeared without trace when a young man. The girls all married men from the Manjimup district, although only one family still has descendants in the area.
My maternal grandmother, Ruth Prosser married Bruce Donald Logan who lived on one of the other group settlements.
