• Memo*: Kenneth went to school at Koonunga Hill, near Kapunda, Glenelg and Stansbury. After leaving school he picked up wood cuttings for six pence a bag, led a horse up and down the jetty, and went wood cutting. In March 1912 he went to Corny Point to work on the family farm. In his 77th year Molly Filmer wrote - ' Kenneth Benjamin still takes an active part in most of the farm work. He does tractor driving for long hours (on a crawler tractor for scrub rolling and stone rolling, and on the wheeled tractors for cultivating, stone-picking, harrowing and, to a lesser extent, reaping). He chops wood, milks the cow or cows and is still a very capable blacksmith.' When he was 80 he and his wife Hilda, retired to a cottage at 'Elanora', Stansbury. In their first 6 years of retirement KB made 204 trips back to work on the farm. His wife accompanied him on about half of those trips, which lasted one to three days.⁴
