  • Note*: Robert Melrose McNeil recieved a letter from James Houston JP, FRIBA, FSA Scot. D.Arch., FRIA Scot. dated in June 1950 Containing information about a Robert Logan who was said to be a brother to William Logan. Much of this information has now proven to be incorrect.3
  • Death*: Robert Melrose McNeil died on 3 June 1974 at age 84.1
  • Memo*: Robert owned land in the Hundred of Booyoolie and adjoining land in the Hundred of Narridy at Huddleston which was purchased from his uncle James McNeil. He and his parents and three sisters, who had previously lived in Wilson, Murray Town and Laura districts, moved to the new house at Huddleston in 1912. His parents and 2 younger sisters moved to St Peters in 1925.
    Robert helped quarry stone for the construction of the Huddleston Methodist church in 1920. He was elected secretary and treasurer of the trust at its foundation meeting on 22 Feb. 1918, a position he held for more than fifty six years, until the time of his death. He was a member of the Huddleston Cricket Club for many years.
    After their marriage in 1926, Robert and Dorothy made their home at Huddleston. He was a keen rifleman and was a member of Gladstone Rifle Club in 1912 and for several years before joining Crystal Brook Club. He shot at Bisley in England in 1950 while on a trip abroad. Later he was made a life member of Crystal Brook Rifle Club.
    While in Scotland in 1950, Robert found some Logan relatives and obtained a copy of "The Genealogy of Logan's of Kilbirnie".
    On his death, Robert left his property to his cousin Max Logan of Huddleston who had been share farming with him for twenty eight years.2
